Is a Fluval 304 canister filter enough filtration for a 120 Gallon Aquarium.?
Trying to move up from a 60 gallon to 120 and have concerns about filtration and water movement. Plan on housing malawi’s and not sure if i need to upgrade the filtration. The tank came with an under-gravel filter but not sure how those work. Should i add another canister filter or a hob filter? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
How much filtering depends on how many fish you have more than the tank size. So if you move the current fish and filter form the 60gal to the 120 they will be fine. But of course with the bigger tank you will want to get more fish, or the ones you have will grow bigger. THEN you may need an extra filter.
A decent HOB filter should be fine, it’s there add to the capacity of your existing filter, and act as a backup incase it stops and you dont notice straight away.
Dont bother with the UG filter if you are keeping large chiclids, they dig around in the gavel and uncover the filter plates, then the filter doesn’t do anything.
