When switching from medium to high power on a microscope, how come I’m unable to see any part of the specimen?
I have to shift the slide over a little just to get back to the object I’m looking at. It’s weird. I was looking at it before, and then when I switched power, it changed the place I was looking at. Why?
when u place a slide under the microscope you then have to adjust the distance of the objective from the object (your specimen on the glass slide) until you see clerly. this distance is the focal lenght of the objective.
now when u change the power ie u change the objective it will have a different focal lenght therefore you change the distance again.
now when you observe the specimen in low power u observe a wider range but when u switch to high power you observe a smaller range and therefore u need to move your slide a bit to bring to focus the area of interest.
its just like when u look at a photo on a computer and then when u keep zooming in u keep needing to focus the area u want to look at.
